Starting tomorrow, the airfield in Zwickau will be transformed into an El Dorado for moped lovers for four days. The largest Simson meeting in Germany, which takes place from July 17th to 20th, is celebrating a truly remarkable anniversary: over 20 years of “petrol talks” and warm gatherings of moped owners are on the program. The event not only promises a variety of exciting activities, but also an unforgettable festival feeling that will captivate millions of Simson fans. That reports Blick.de.
The expected ten thousand visitors will get their money's worth in the spirit of “Ostalgie”. The meeting offers exciting attractions such as crankshaft throwing, circuit and drag races as well as lots of games and parties. The event's musical accompaniment will include the band “Engel in civilian” and DJ Noah Strebe, so the atmosphere is sure to be great.
Unique festival atmosphere
The first guests will be on site before the official opening hours. The spectacle not only attracts moped fans, but also creates a lively atmosphere reminiscent of the film “Mad Max”. There will hardly be any pedestrians on the site, as motorized two-wheelers dominate the scene. Many visitors brought their Simson classics with them, which are not only used for trips, but are also used creatively for various purposes, such as fetching water.
Some participants have come up with very special surprises: André Klaus is bringing an explosion ram from 1987, while Sebastian Buchmann and friends have even set up several caravans and their own tap system on the occasion of his 40th birthday. Not to be forgotten is Niclas Schuster, who designed a shower with a cordless screwdriver pump. Jeremy Kneucker ensures good orientation on the site and has put up town signs for this purpose.
Preparation and safety
The preparations are extensive: numerous paramedics and an emergency doctor are ready to help quickly in an emergency. Dominic Wuerfel, the organizer of the meeting, founded the event 22 years ago and knows that good safety is a top priority. Despite the joyful atmosphere, some accidents have already been reported, and one of the injured visitors had to be taken to hospital. However, the organizers are prepared and have taken appropriate measures in the event of an emergency.
Families are welcome and children are also allowed to ride on the mopeds. The little ones in particular have a lot of fun with their Simson vehicles. Susan Wohlfahrt brought her family with her, and her children are also enthusiastic about the moped culture. The event not only offers a platform for exciting competitions, stunt shows and numerous parties, but also an opportunity for families to get together.
