Third pharmacy in Zwickau-Neuplanitz: Burglars strike again!
In the early morning hours of June 20, 2025, another shocking incident occurred in Zwickau-Neuplanitz. Between 12:15 a.m. and 1:50 a.m., unknown people broke into a pharmacy on Marchlewskistrasse and stole an unknown amount of medication. This is the third break-in at a pharmacy in just nine months, prompting the police to conduct intensive investigations. According to information from Free press The question arises as to how often residents will have to be confronted with such criminal actions.
But the events in Zwickau are not just limited to burglaries. On Thursday afternoon, a pharmacy was also attacked by a 23-year-old man who caused a disturbance with an alcohol level of 3.86 per mille. He demanded a strong painkiller, oxycodone, from the employees while holding a knife, but did not threaten them. However, since the employees refused to hand over the required medication, the perpetrator quickly grabbed three packs of another medication worth 100 euros and fled. Thanks to a quick police operation, the young man was arrested on site. The incident shows how desperate some young people are recently and brings the issue of alcohol abuse and its consequences back into the conversation. Loud Saxon Luckily there were no injuries.
The increasing crime
While burglaries and robberies are increasing alarmingly in Zwickau, the nationwide police crime statistics for 2024 show that overall crime in Germany has fallen slightly. Like that BKA reported, the number of registered crimes fell by 1.7% to 5,837,445. The main reason for this decline is the partial legalization of cannabis, which led to a significant decrease in drug-related crime. However, violent crime rose by 1.5% to its highest level since 2007. The increase is particularly worrying among children and young people, who are increasingly appearing as suspects.
The police are not only mobilizing locally, but there are also developments at the national level that make people think. Citizens are more than ever called upon to be vigilant and work towards a safe coexistence - because crime does not stop at their own four walls.
