Eisspiraten Crimmitschau: Take advantage of the break and stay in sixth place!
The Eispiren Crimmitschau completed the first phase of the season in the DEL 2 on November 4th, 2025 and are currently in sixth place with 22 points. After a balance of seven wins and seven defeats, the first conclusions can be drawn about the team. In their most recent away game against Krefeld, the Sahnpark team had to admit defeat 3:4, although over 5,700 spectators in the Yayla Arena provided a great backdrop.
The match was exciting, especially since discipline problems in the final phase put the team under pressure. Denis Shevyrin and Corey Mackin were punished, which gave Krefeld the opportunity to take the lead. Krefeld itself is showing a strong performance and has only allowed 30 shots on its own goal in the two games so far this weekend.
Start of the season with ups and downs
The Ice Pirates were rewarded on Friday, November 2nd with a clear 5-0 win against Freiburg in the bottom of the table. The goalscorers that evening were Tim McGauley (2), Ladislav Zikmund, Dominic Walsh and Corey Mackin. What was particularly remarkable was that the Ice Pirates not only scored points in the 5-on-5 game, but also twice in the power play and once when they were outnumbered.
The team is currently on a short break as there are no league games on the second weekend of November due to the Germany Cup. Many players use this period to take short vacations or visit family, which should provide a welcome change. Joint training is planned to keep in shape, which is on the agenda again on Sunday.
Outlook for the upcoming games
The next challenge for the Ice Pirates is on November 14th against Weißwasser and on November 16th against Kassel. November 16th will be particularly exciting, as the second family day of the season will take place on this day in the artificial ice stadium in Sahnpark. It remains to be seen whether goalkeeper Christian Schneider and defender Mario Scalzo, who were recently withdrawn due to injury, will be able to return for these games.
The snapshot of the Ice Pirates offers some interesting approaches to discussing form and tactics, which will also be crucial for the coming games. Fans can eagerly wait to see how the team returns from this short break and what changes will be made to secure the next points.
