On July 12, 2025, Hallesche FC won an impressive test match against second division club Greuther Fürth at the Ronhof sports park. In front of 945 enthusiastic spectators, the HFC managed to win the game 2-1. Coach Robert Schröder can be satisfied with his team's performance. Joscha Wosz's equalizer in the 41st minute came at exactly the right time and provided new momentum before the half-time break. Lucas Ehrlich crowned the afternoon with the winning goal in added time.
The people of Halle were very happy, but not all teams from the region could look back on similar successes. In another test match, FSV Zwickau suffered a defeat and lost 1:3 against the second team of 1. FC Nürnberg. Randolf Riesen scored the consolation goal for Zwickau in the final minute. The U23s of 1. FC Magdeburg also had a difficult day and lost 1:4 against Hansa Rostock, while another friendly match between FC Eilenburg and VfB Auerbach ended with a 4:4.
Saxony-Anhalt Cup: HFC looking for a title
The Saxony-Anhalt Cup itself has a long tradition and has been held annually since 1991. All teams registered with the Football Association of Saxony-Anhalt (FSA) from the 3rd league to the state league as well as the winners of district cup and city cup competitions are eligible to take part. The cup winner has the great privilege of qualifying for the first main round of the DFB Cup the following season. The record cup winner is 1. FC Magdeburg with an impressive 13 titles, followed by Halleschen FC, who won 12 times.
