Handball in a broader context
Handball enjoys a broad following that extends far beyond rural regions. Studies have shown that these are primarily urban fans. According to a survey by Statista, 69 percent of handball fans are men, with the age group over 50 forming a significant target group. Over 16 percent of those surveyed live in rural areas, while the majority come from medium-sized, large or megacities. Another highlight from the handball world is the upcoming 2025 Handball World Cup, which begins on January 14th in Croatia, Denmark and Norway, with Germany taking on Poland on January 15th.
The demand for handball is unbroken. The league's games draw large numbers of spectators into the halls and the enthusiasm for the sport is also evident in the fully occupied arenas of top clubs such as Füchse Berlin and Hamburger Sportverein. It will be exciting to see how the championship develops and which teams will prevail in the end.
