Da Pacem” concert: anniversary celebration with top artists in Zwickau!
On October 25, 2025 at 7 p.m. it will be really festive in the Neue Welt concert and ballroom in Zwickau. This evening she celebrates Sachsenring Choir Association celebrated its 70th anniversary with a very special concert: “Da pacem”. The choir association has received active support for this, because they are there Janáček Choir from Jablonec nad Nisou, which also belongs to Zwickau's twin town, as well as the Vogtlandphilharmonie Greiz-Reichenbach, which will perform under the direction of Stefan Fraas.
The program includes masterpieces by Ludwig van Beethoven and Karl Jenkins that will captivate the audience. The German premiere of “Missa Brevis” by Jiří Pavlica* will be the highlight of the evening. The concert brings around 160 participants on stage and represents a contribution to the Capital of Culture year “Chemnitz European Capital of Culture Year 2025”.
Performance details and participants
What can visitors expect? Among other things, Beethoven's “Fantasy for piano, choir and orchestra op. 80” will be heard, followed by Jenkins' “The Armed Man – A Mass for Peace”. The program is complemented by Pavlica's remarkable “Missa Brevis”. This concert is the result of a long preparation process that began in 2023, and an intensive rehearsal weekend will take place from September 19th to 21st in Grünheide/Vogtland.

Tickets are available between 15 and 30 euros and can be ordered directly from the Sachsenring Choir Association. Anyone who misses the concert has the opportunity to attend the repeat in Jablonec nad Nisou on November 15th.
Cultural significance
The concert not only has local relevance, but is also part of a larger cultural framework, because in 2025 Chemnitz will receive the title of European Capital of Culture carry. This title has been awarded by the EU since 1985 and is intended to encourage cities to develop culturally and to present this culture internationally. Chemnitz beat strong competition from seven other cities in Germany and will become a true cultural center in the coming year.
