Mini Zwickau opens its doors: Adventure for children begins!
Next week, the Pestalozzi School in Zwickau will be the scene of an exciting adventure - the “Mini Zwickau” play town opens its doors on Monday! The event, which will take place from June 30 to July 11, 2025, is aimed at children aged 7 to 14 and promises to provide many exciting experiences. The children have the opportunity to re-enact the lives of adults and try out different professions, similar to what is already being done successfully in other children's play towns.
A special highlight of this year's edition are the new offers designed to attract children. In addition to tried and tested institutions such as the savings bank and the bakery, this year the young citizens can also integrate the city management, a police station and a hospital into their game. The commitment is not just limited to playing - the kids also have the opportunity to paint an SVZ bus, which will then drive through Zwickau.
Organizational details and registration
Preparations for the event are already in full swing. “We strive to optimally design both the organizational framework and the activities for the children,” said the organizers. The registration options are diverse and extend to several municipal youth facilities, including the “City Point” children’s and youth leisure center and the “Airport” youth club. The registration deadline was June 26, 2025, although on-site registration in the venue is only possible if there are remaining spaces. This is especially true after a staff shortage - registration in the children's and youth café "Atlantis" was not possible until June 22, 2025.
The “Mini Zwickau” play town is not only a creative space for kids, but also a platform to promote important values such as teamwork and responsibility. Therefore, small competitions with FSV players and a weekly market are also planned, which provides additional variety. It's the little things that make the event unique!
A look into the future of the children's play town
An interesting detail about the history of these play towns: the exchange of experiences and the solution of practical problems through a network of organizers of children's play towns are fundamental elements of their development. The concept of children's play towns is made known via a website specifically set up for this purpose and information is provided in multiple languages. In Germany there are already successful examples such as Mini-Munich and Mini-Salzburg, which could serve as inspiration for the play city in Zwickau.
In addition, the “betterplace.org” donation button remains active to secure financial support for this year’s event. Last year, the funding collected via the Internet was successfully used to enrich the event.
In conclusion, it can be said that the “Mini Zwickau” play town is a great project that will not only bring a lot of joy to the little citizens of Zwickau, but will also make a valuable contribution to the community. All children are warmly invited to immerse themselves in the exciting world of adulthood with lots of enthusiasm and creativity!
