Modernized intersection in Langenchursdorf: Students benefit now!

The new intersection in the Callenberg district of Langenchursdorf is now open to traffic and brings beneficial relief for residents. This ceremonial release took place on Wednesday, several months earlier than originally planned. The construction work, which began in March 2023, has now been successfully completed and has brought to life a large project that cost around 4.75 million euros. The local roads, which had previously been heavily used and in poor condition, have now been extensively renovated.

A particularly important aspect of the new intersection is the creation of a small bus station with five barrier-free bus platforms. This means that many children and young people who regularly use the bus connections to school can reach their destination safely and comfortably. In addition to the new bus platforms, two district roads were expanded over a length of 370 meters and the Langenberg stream was relocated over a distance of 70 meters, which has noticeably improved the traffic situation on site.

Public transport connections in focus

“This means a significant improvement in the quality of life for the residents,” says the mayor of Callenberg, who highlighted the advantages of the new infrastructure. The lousy sidewalks and inadequate bus stops are now a thing of the past. The school will be more accessible in the future, and the safety of pedestrians and bus users is a top priority. This step not only makes everyday life easier for the students, but also makes the situation significantly safer for all road users.

But it's not just in Langenchursdorf that intensive work is being done on the traffic and road infrastructure. The new bypass around Ruderatshofen and Apfeltrang, which was opened on November 16, 2023, also shows how important such projects are for the region. The budget required for this was necessarily almost 20 million euros, with the Free State of Bavaria covering most of the financing requirements with around 8.5 million euros. This reduces through traffic and residents can look forward to noticeable relief.

Federal Transport Infrastructure Plan 2030

The expansion and new construction projects are part of the Federal Transport Infrastructure Plan (BVWP) 2030, which is based on around 2,000 proposals. The plan is intended not only for roads, but also for railways and waterways. Thanks to this initiative, infrastructure projects in Germany are being comprehensively examined to ensure sustainable transport. The large number of projects are recorded in a dossier together with the previous transport practices and thus support decision-making for future expansions.

Overall, it is clear that investments in infrastructure are not only necessary, but also a valuable measure to improve living space. The new intersection in Langenchursdorf and the road projects in the area are the best proof that it is worth having a good hand in planning in order to sustainably increase people's quality of life.

It remains to be seen how the further developments of the transport projects will develop. One thing is clear, however: the measures that are being taken today will secure the future of the next generations and promote coexistence in transport, which is becoming increasingly important today.
