New volunteer project in Zwickau: Networking and strengthening clubs!
A new project has seen the light of day in Zwickau, which aims to promote networking between clubs and interested parties. Christiane Krögel-Ladwig worked informatively and researched around 200 existing clubs. However, it is estimated that the number of clubs in the region is almost twice as high. The aim of this project is clear: to strengthen voluntary structures and to become particularly active in districts that have so far shown little voluntary commitment. The initiative aims to bring together people who want to get involved in their community and to offer them the right starting points to take part in social club life. This is reported by the Free press.
Developments in the region also show how important volunteering is, especially at the beginning of the year. Many people make good resolutions, such as living healthier or being more active in the community. Volunteering can help ensure that these resolutions are not only kept, but also lead to a sense of self-fulfillment and satisfaction. Annekatrin Jahn, project manager of the volunteer platform Ehrensache.jetzt, highlights the positive effects of volunteering and points out the excellent opportunities that exist here.
Volunteer opportunities
On the platform Ehrensache.jetzt, which was initiated by the Dresden Community Foundation, there are currently over 40 advertisements that encourage people to get involved in voluntary work. An interesting example is Caritas Zwickau's “People Strengthen People” sponsorship program, which is looking for volunteers who would like to support older people, people with disabilities or people with a migration background. The options are diverse: everything is included, from shared walks to cultural events to language training. Other initiatives, such as the Omas for Future future quiz, are also looking for committed moderators who want to raise awareness of a future worth living. In Neukirchen/Pleiße, however, helpers are being sought for the bicycle self-help workshop “Rat(d)schlag”, which takes place monthly.
Voluntary engagement in Germany can be seen in various organizational forms. In 2014, more than half of those involved were active in a club or association. However, this trend is declining and individually organized groups are becoming increasingly important. Informal associations, such as self-help groups and neighborhood assistance, play an important role in social life. While women and men are involved differently in these areas, women are less likely to be active in clubs, but are often found in churches or religious associations. Your own commitment is still not only an opportunity for self-realization, but also an important part of social networks such as DZA determines.
The variety of voluntary offerings in Zwickau clearly shows how much potential there is in the city to further expand structures and strengthen the sense of community. Christiane Krögel-Ladwig's project could provide the decisive impetus here and sustainably change the voluntary landscape in the region.
