Rain presses mood at the classic car meeting in the Ore Mountains!
On July 13, 2025, the tenth meeting of the classic car and railway fans took place in the picturesque Wilzschhaus, a district of Schönheide. Despite the charming atmosphere that this event promises, uncomfortable weather conditions thwarted the festival. Permanent rain and gray clouds kept many classic car enthusiasts away and unfortunately ensured a lower response than expected. Nevertheless, around 200 guests and around 60 historical vehicles could be admired on the event area. The Förderverein Historische West Saxon railways had taken over the organization of the event and offered a colorful program for visitors.
The old and youngtimer meeting 2025 started at 10 a.m. at Schönheide Süd station. But the external circumstances could not very cloudy the anticipation. The participants were able to look forward to a large vehicle show, while a bouncy castle and handicraft facilities were available for the little guests. In addition, interested leadership rides with historical shunting locomotives were able to experience and watch some exciting film screenings. The hourly offer of the "Wernesgrüner Schienenexpress", which promoted visitors between Schönheide Süd and Tannenbergsthal, was particularly interesting. These activities made the event a pleasure for those who had come despite the rain even without bright sunshine. On the website of the classic car club you will find more details and information about upcoming events.
diversions and events
For the journey, however, some drivers had to be patient. Due to structural measures, the B283 was blocked on both sides between the junction to Auerbach and the entrance to the towns of Morgenröthe until July 11, 2025 and required an official diversion. There were also restrictions in the vicinity of Aue that could not be overlooked. These circumstances probably contributed to the number of participants over the long weekend.
Another highlight for classic car fans is the upcoming Grand Prix of Bavaria, which takes place on July 19 and 20, 2025 in Aschau in the Chiemgau. This event is carried out under the patronage of Interior Minister Herrmann and promises a festive ambience with a newly designed area that is transformed into a historic race track. At the same time, we can admire many pre-war racing machines here-a real paradise for every motorsport fan. The event is referred to as a Bavarian tourist Trophy and gives hope for exciting competitions that will take place in 13 groups, as can be read on [Motor Classical] (https://www.motor-klassik.de/mkl-Veranstaltungen/).
So it remains to be hoped that the next classic car meetings will be more lucky in terms of weather technology and that the nostalgia of historical vehicles continues to inspire many people.
