Simson meeting 2025: Hundreds of fans celebrate at the Zwickau airfield!
The Zwickau airfield is currently a meeting place for nostalgia enthusiasts and motorcycle enthusiasts: The 23rd Simson meeting has begun! Early birds catch the worm - the first visitors set off as early as 1 a.m. to secure their coveted seats. As the Free press reports, the loud music blaring from the distance creates an intoxicating ambience.
The festival not only attracts die-hard Simson fans, but also curious people and families. Motorized two-wheeled driving is in full swing here, as more motorized vehicles than pedestrians populate the area at this event. Many of the approximately 1,000 valued visitors use the meeting to live out their passion for the classic “mokicks”, just like it MDR describes. The organizer Dominic Wölfe is also on site early in the morning to ensure that everything runs smoothly.
A festival full of surprises
The annual Simson meeting, which is also known for its unusual ideas, offers some unique attractions. André Klaus presents an explosion pile driver from 1987 to compact the ground, while Sebastian Buchmann's celebrated 40th birthday brings a special touch to the festival's activity. Together with his friends, he has set up several caravans and is ensuring a perfect celebration with delicious beer from his own tap. You don't have to worry about anything!
Another highlight is the creative solution from Niclas Schuster and his friends, who constructed their own shower using a cordless screwdriver pump. The tattered GDR flag also serves as a landmark and many camp sites are colorful with bright yellow place-name signs. The sky over Zwickau is shining, but there are also dark sides: Jeremy Kneucker reports on a few accidents and a friend's hospitalization, which makes the medical service, which is on duty with an emergency doctor and 11 paramedics, particularly important.
From GDR culture to a cult brand
The enthusiasm for Samson goes back a long way. The brand, once the largest two-wheeler manufacturer in the GDR, has achieved legendary status and gave us classics like the “Schwalbe”. These retro mokicks are still popular and even outperform many earlier West German models such as Kreidler or Zündapp NDR. Over the years, Simson has experienced many ups and downs and has once again gained popularity with a nationwide “Simson Day”, which has been celebrated since 2019.
Competitions, stunt shows and parties are announced for the four days that the festival lasts. Here every corner is filled with life and happy faces! The large community surrounding the Zwickau Simson culture is still alive in the new decade. Avid Simson fans and families everywhere enjoy this unique gathering and continue to make the brand's legacy flourish.
