Summer holiday fun: Zwickau museums entice you with family programs!

The coming summer holidays in Zwickau promise exciting experiences for art lovers young and old. From the beginning of July to the beginning of August 2025, the local museums will offer a varied program that is specifically aimed at children and families. The popular priests' houses and the Max Pechstein Museum invite you to family tours, treasure hunts and creative workshops. These initiatives aim to get young people excited about culture and art and are supported by projects such as “Museum Macht Stark” of the German Museum Association, which is supported by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, among others, as Deutschland.de reports.

The holiday activities will start on July 3, 2025 with a family tour of the priests' houses. These tours take place on several dates, including July 23rd and August 8th. Adults have to pay 7 euros for entry, children pay a reduced price of 4.50 euros. Participants can also look forward to exciting treasure hunts that will be offered on July 4th and August 1st, 2025.

Diverse offers for creative people

The Max Pechstein Museum in Zwickau is also planning two special events: Under the motto “Greetings from near and far”, children aged 6 to 15 can get creative on July 29th between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. The “color experiments” will take place on August 5th from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Admission to these events is 4 euros, there are reduced prices and children up to 18 years old can take part free of charge.

But while the anticipation for the summer activities grows, the Max Pechstein Museum is facing a challenge. As part of a comprehensive general renovation, all exhibits must be removed from the building. The museum's most valuable works of art set off on a tour to be accessible to art lovers outside of Zwickau. According to Freie Presse, Lessingstrasse between Crimmitschauer and August-Bebel-Strasse is also closed due to the renovation work.

In this context, however, it is also clear that the Zwickau museums are actively working to introduce children and young people to art. This happens through the exciting programs offered as part of the “Museum Makes You Strong” project. It is gratifying that over 17,000 young people have already benefited from these offers, according to statistics.

The Zwickau museums are the perfect place for families to spend time together, learn new things and get creative during these summer holidays. With an interesting program and the opportunity to discover the cultural scene, summer in Zwickau can be enjoyed in a relaxed manner. If you want to be there, you should definitely register in time!
