Mini Zwickau” play town: A summer full of adventures for the children!
In the first two weeks of the summer holidays, from June 30th to July 11th, 2025, the little people of Zwickau can expect an exciting adventure in the play town “Mini Zwickau”. The colorful hustle and bustle takes place in the Pestalozzi School, Seminarstrasse 3. Here, children aged 7 to 14 from Zwickau and the surrounding area can immerse themselves in the world of adults for two weeks and try out different professions. As the city of Zwickau reports, a total of 37 companies with around 270 jobs are available to provide exciting insights into the world of work. The well-known companies include the Sparkasse Mini Zwickau, the residents' registration office as well as creative offers such as an instrument making workshop, which is supported by the “Music Swap Lab” of the German Chamber Philharmonic Bremen.
Anyone wondering what else there is to discover can look forward to a varied program. Sports competitions with FSV Zwickau, traffic safety training and even a visit from the youth fire department are on the agenda, as is the big election campaign for mayor and city council. In addition, an SVZ bus will be painted with creative artwork and there will be exciting water features to everyone's delight. A final party with a colorful stage program rounds off the two weeks. The event promises to be not only educational, but also extremely entertaining.
Participation and registration
Registration to take part in the Spielstadt is currently underway. Interested parents should hurry - the registration deadline is Thursday, June 26, 2025. Registration is possible at several municipal youth facilities, including the "City Point" children's and youth leisure facility, the Marienthal leisure center and the "Airport" youth club. However, it is important to note that due to staff shortages, the “Atlantis” children's and youth café is unlikely to be available until June 22nd.
Participation for children costs 2 euros per day, and only 1 euro for holders of the Zwickau family pass. Lunch can be booked for 3 euros, which became necessary due to increased food prices. Daily opening hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with siblings and adults welcome on Fridays from 2 p.m.
Commitment and support
The play town is organized by the association of independent and municipal providers of child and youth work in Zwickau. Children can not only immerse themselves in exciting careers, but also actively participate in the design of their city, for example by using the special game city currency “Zwickern”. The team consists of dedicated teachers and carers who support the children with their tasks. There have been successful fundraising campaigns via the “betterplace.org” platform in the past, and a donation button will remain active this year to provide additional financial support.
