From July 8th to August 1st, 2025, travelers on the RB 2 regional train route between Zwickau and Plauen must be prepared for nightly train cancellations. The reason for this interruption is extensive construction work affecting the tracks between Reichenbach (Vogtl) and Neumark. The construction work includes track renewal and bed cleaning and is necessary to improve the infrastructure in the long term. The replacement buses will run from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. during the day and will stop at key stops in the region, including Zwickau Zentrum, Zwickau Hbf and Reichenbach. Short diversions of bus services may also occur, meaning that journey times could be extended by around seven minutes.
Details about the closures and traffic adjustments
Travelers are asked to do their research before departure and, if necessary, use earlier connections to avoid longer travel times. During the construction work, a shuttle service between Werdau and Neumark will also be offered. The RE 3 trains are also recommended for travelers as an alternative connection.
It should be noted that the construction work will continue for longer: road construction work will also take place between Neumark and Reichenbach from June 27th to July 18th, 2025. This additional work will also have an impact on travel.
