Zwickau offers Ukrainian children unforgettable holiday experiences!

The city of Zwickau is once again showing its big heart: from July 20th to 27th there will be a special holiday camp for children and young people from the Ukrainian twin city of Volodymyr. 27 young people between the ages of 12 and 17 take part, some of whom have difficult fates because their parents are fighting at the front or have already fallen. How zwickau.de reports, these children experience a week full of joy and hope in a school camp in Vogtland.

The group is accompanied by three dedicated teachers and two drivers. The varied program includes attractive sports activities, creative courses and exciting excursions to Schneeberg, Dresden and the Plohn leisure park. A special highlight is the planned visit to Zwickau on Wednesday, July 23rd, where the children will visit, among other things, the August Horch Museum. At 10 a.m., Mayor Constance Arndt will receive the delegation in the town hall, where a large-format work of art will also be presented.

Backgrounds and life stories

Six of the children taking part are orphans and many have close relatives at the front. 15-year-old Mark, who is in Germany for the first time and comes from near Volodymyr, tells us how much the war is affecting them. Even though his father and mother returned from the front unscathed, he hears every day from friends who mourn their fallen relatives mdr.de reported. Such impressions are also important for the supervisor Natalia Jasyuk, who emphasizes that the war plays a role in every case, regardless of whether the region is directly affected or not.

The association “Partnership to Ukraine e.V.”, which organized the holiday campaign, was founded in 2013 when the partnership with Volodymyr was sealed. Karl-Ernst Müller, the chairman of the association, emphasizes that humanitarian aid has become more important since the war began in 2022. The holiday camp is part of this help and is intended to offer the children a welcome change.

Commitment to refugee children

The holiday leisure in Zwickau is not just an individual event. In Germany there are numerous initiatives and programs for the integration of refugee children, such as bildungsserver.de shows. Whether multilingual brochures for parents or creative workshops; Work is being done everywhere to provide the best possible support for Ukrainian children and to make it easier for them to integrate into our education system. These collective efforts offer not only help but also hope for the future.

The accommodation of the children during the holiday camp is financed by funds from the Ukraine donation account, which not only shows how important the help for the Ukrainian children is, but also that the people of Zwickau are behind these initiatives.

Overall, the coming days will be an opportunity for the young participants to make new friends, experience carefree moments and escape the sad reality of war for a while.
