Zwickau in focus: Big Trabant meeting inspires the region!

Zwickau, the fourth largest city in Saxony, is about to become host to the “ZDF morning magazine”. On October 30th, the team will report live from the city and put local highlights and social developments in the spotlight. Particular attention is paid to Zwickau and the surrounding towns of Glauchau, Crimmitschau, Hohenstein-Ernstthal, Limbach-Oberfrohna and Meerane, such as blick.de informed.

For the residents of Zwickau, the ZDF team's visit is an exciting opportunity to showcase their city, known for its rich historical heritage and modern way of life. From the Zwickau Main Market, a charming square with the impressive St. Mary's Church, to the Robert Schumann House, where you can discover the traces of the world-famous composer, there is a lot to show. The course has also been set for the future, with the West Saxony University of Zwickau, which promotes innovation and research in vehicle construction.

Classic cars and the Trabant

One of the big events that is also coming up is the “16th Zwickau Trabant and Eastern Vehicle Meeting” next weekend. Up to 800 participants are expected at the Zwickau airfield, where the chairman of the Trabant Club, Thomas Winkelmann, has organized an exciting program. This will be a great opportunity for all owners of Eastern vehicles, be it a Trabant, W50 or Lada, to come together and share their passion, like mdr.de reported.

The meeting offers a mixture of petrol talks, games of skill and a colorful program for the whole family. On Saturday, the most beautiful vehicle will be chosen in various categories, while children will be busy with the bouncy castle and craft street. But music and an award ceremony with fireworks in the evening should not be missed! This gathering celebrates not only nostalgia, but also the simple technology and the emotional memories that many associate with the Trabant.

Zwickau's automotive historical heritage

Zwickau has a tradition of automobile production going back over 100 years. The pioneer August Horch founded A. Horch & Cie. in 1904. Motorenwerke AG was founded and the city was put on the automotive map. Another important chapter began in 1909 with the founding of Audi, which eventually merged to form AUTO UNION AG - an important milestone in German automotive history. Even after the war, the city has lost none of its automotive importance: between 1957 and 1991, more than 3 million Trabants rolled off the assembly line, which became a symbol of East Germany zwickau.de.

Today this tradition is continued by companies such as Volkswagen Sachsen GmbH and numerous suppliers. The August Horch Museum allows visitors to delve deep into the history of automobile manufacturing, while events such as the Sachsen Classic and the International Trabant Drivers' Meeting emphasize the lively automobile culture in Zwickau.

With exciting events and a rich heritage, Zwickau shows that the mix of tradition and modernity shapes the city's attitude to life and makes its residents proud.
