On to the big writing competition: Show your dreams and emotions!

Today, November 7th, 2025, it's about writing and creativity among young people in our region! The Altenburger Land District Office calls on all young talents between the ages of 7 and 21 to take part in the 27th literary competition. This competition provides a great platform to express thoughts, experiences and feelings in the form of stories or poems.

Anyone who would like to put their heart into words has until February 28, 2026 to submit their contributions by email to kultur@altenburgerland.de. There are a few requirements: The work should be a maximum of five pages long and written in font size 12 and the Arial font. The topics are broad - from personal emotions to dreams and wishes to humorous, critical or exciting content, everything is welcome.

Creativity needs space

Young writers can live out their imagination and creativity in a special format. The contributions will be evaluated by an expert jury, and the best works will be presented as part of a literature workshop in spring 2026. So if anyone has ever wanted to put their thoughts into letters, now is the perfect opportunity!

Particularly good entries will also be rewarded, which creates an additional incentive to take part in this competition. In addition, all submissions are carefully reviewed and discussed so that every participant has the chance to get out of their comfort zone and express themselves creatively.

Whether funny stories or profound poems – the competition offers many possibilities. The District Office expressly encourages all young creatives to share their ideas, because every thought and every emotion counts. It is important that the contributions include the name, address, age, grade level and school.

This initiative not only promotes literary creation, but also exchange between the young participants. A good opportunity to meet like-minded people and get inspired! So, get to your keyboards or pens and put your thoughts on paper.

Further information is available on the district office website or directly from the email address kultur@altenburgerland.de. Let's get ready to discover the new talents of tomorrow!
