Specialist day in Altenburger Land: Diversity as the key to integration!
The specialist day “Diversity as Strength: Migration between participation, resources and social responsibility” is just around the corner. OnNovember 13, 2025The Altenburger Land district office in Altenburg is opening its doors for an event that deals with an explosive and current topic: the integration of migrants into the labor market.
From11 a.m. to 5 p.mVisitors can listen and actively participate in specialist lectures and discussions. The topics are complex and include, among other things, the design of coexistence in the Altenburger Land and the role of international migration in securing skilled workers in rural areas. Experts from the Thuringian Business Association, the Network Office for Education in Structural Change and the KOFA Competence Center for Securing Skilled Workers will have their say. Registration is now possible - participation is free of charge.
Growing need for skilled workers
The need for qualified workers in Germany is obvious and is constantly increasing. According to that Diversity Life Blog In 2024, around 67% of German companies reported shortages of skilled workers, particularly in sectors such as construction, geriatric care and nursing. In order to cope with this, increased immigration and successful integration of migrants into the labor market are required.
This challenge is complicated not only by language barriers and bureaucratic hurdles, but also by the lengthy process of recognizing foreign qualifications. People with a migration background are often twice as affected by unemployment, which not only endangers their integration, but also the economic stability of the country Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs underlined.
Measures for successful integration
Various programs have been launched to support labor market integration. The “Integration through Qualification – IQ” funding program is one of the Federal Government's central means of making it easier for people with a migration background to have their qualifications recognized and to overcome language barriers. Various measures aim to ensure equal participation in working life, as this is essential for successful integration.
The event in Altenburg is an excellent opportunity to further advance the important issue of the integration of migrants. The specialist day will provide a platform to develop ideas on how the diversity of society can be used as an opportunity for innovation and how migration can support the regional economy - and thus ensure that no one is left behind.
Participation is mandatory for everyone who doesn't want to miss the chance to gain valuable information and contacts. The daily schedule and registration options are on the Website of the Altenburger Land district office to find.
