Fantastic weekend: FC Erzgebirge fan trip to Northern Ireland!
On July 15, 2025 the time had come: the supporters of FC Erzgebirge Aue headed to Lurgan, Northern Ireland to support their team in the second leg against Glenavon FC. Marcel Wagner, a passionate member of the club, made his trip adventurous and eventful.
Wagner's journey began with a flight from Munich to Amsterdam, followed by a connection to Belfast. But his travel luck wasn't always kind to him. A one-hour delay in departure meant that his connecting connection was at risk. In Amsterdam he found out that the next flight to Belfast was fully booked and a diversion via Aberdeen was out of the question. Finally, Wagner decided to look for a solution himself and booked a seat on another flight for a whopping 980 euros.
An unforgettable weekend
After arriving in Belfast, Wagner spent the evening in the cozy pubs of the Cathedral Quarter, where he was able to experience Northern Irish hospitality. The next morning he took the train to Lurgan, where he met other Wismut supporters and the anticipation for the game was obvious.
When he arrived at the stadium, he met old friends like Venny and was able to pick up T-shirts. A special highlight was the free beer in the clubhouse “The Cabin”, which certainly put a big smile on the fans’ faces. The fan march into the stadium was watched carefully by numerous residents and truly celebrated with the famous Steiger song. This was also positively noted by the Glenavon fans.
The return journey was also not without delays, but Wagner ultimately managed to catch his flight back to Munich. “It was a fantastic experience,” he summed up. Hopes for a future friendly relationship between fans of both clubs were also raised.
Fan travel is trending
The interest in the trip to the second leg shows how closely knit the FC Erzgebirge Aue fan community has become. For future trips, fans can take advantage of the offers from Ullmann Travel fall back. They offer fan packages that can be booked from 749 euros per person and include everything from flights and overnight stays to transfers. During a seven-day stay, half of the time is spent in the vibrant city of Dublin!
For many fans, the comprehensive travel package could be the ideal solution to experience their own team's games up close. A fan evening with the team is also planned, which should further strengthen the community among the fans. Marco Ullmann, managing director of Ullmann Reisen, is pleased about the collaboration with the club and emphasizes: “Every booking goes towards cross-financing FC Erzgebirge Aue.”
The high demand shows that fan trips continue to be very popular. The tour operators like RES Tourism GmbH not only offer attractive packages on the go, but also a range of additional services that combine vacation and football. Whether traveling to Lurgan or attending other games, the bond with your team remains the most important thing.
