New calendar Ruszer Kolanner” celebrates the Altenburg dialect!

In this colorful time of year, local care is very important in Rositz: the new “Ruszer Kolanner” for 2026 has seen the light of day. This charming calendar, published by the municipality of Rositz, impresses with its tried-and-tested design and brings the Altenburg dialect directly into your living room. With an A3 format and the saying “Liergohre sin keene Harrngohre” on the cover page, it invites you to appreciate regionality and discover your own dialect. As OTZ reports, each calendar page contains a term in the Altenburg dialect, such as “Knupp” for button and “Starze” for pot lid.

The Altenburg dialect, an ancient form of language, has a long history that dates back to 1519, when it was first mentioned in writing. Even though only a few older people speak the dialect these days, it is very popular in certain circles. It is kept alive particularly in local history associations and in the Rositz kindergarten. Children from the “Zwergenstübchen” regularly show off their skills at performances, such as at the opening of the 33rd Ruszer Karmse, and help ensure that the region’s heritage is remembered. The dialect is considered a valuable cultural asset that should be urgently preserved, as altenburg.travel emphasizes.

Special features of the calendar

The calendar not only shows terms, but also beautiful motifs from the community of Rositz through the seasons. Amateur photographers have captured special moments, including an impressive photo of a diesel railcar at the level crossing in Molbitz, taken by Dirk Hanke. The calendar is available in the Rositz administrative community and in local shops for 6.99 euros, and the community even raffled off three calendars, with participation possible until October 22nd.

Events in Rositz

The coming days in Rositz will also be dominated by culture and community. On October 26th, a concert with melodic operetta sounds will take place in the Lumpzig Church at 4 p.m., while a Sunday tour in the Lindenau Museum at 2 p.m. will shed light on the purchases after 1945. On the same day, the Evangelical Kindergarten “Duchess Amalie” celebrates its 190th anniversary with celebrations that begin at 2:30 p.m.

A digital public consultation on the Lindenau Museum is scheduled for October 27th at 7:30 p.m. Before that, the technical committee of the city of Schmölln will meet on October 27th at 6:30 p.m. The 18th meeting of the district committee will also take place in the Altenburger Land district office on October 27th, but at 4 p.m. For the drivers among the readers: The road expansion on Erich-Mäder-Straße also begins on October 27th and will remain a challenge until December 12th as the road remains closed.

At a time when our cultures are under threat, it is important to preserve regional dialects and traditions. The “Ruszer Kolanner” and the activities of the Rositz community are just two examples of how this is achieved in a fabulous way.
