Scam Alert! Thuringia's financial administration warns about fake emails
In a world in which digitalization is becoming more and more integrated into our everyday lives, fraudsters are unfortunately constantly appearing who are after people's good faith. The Thuringian tax administration is currently warning of a current fraud scam that is spreading in Eichsfeld. How thueringer- Allgemeine.de reported that recipients receive fake emails in the name of ELSTER that promise an income tax refund and ask them to confirm account details. But be careful: the sender addresses are often dubious, and they often end at t-online.de. Fortunately, the tax administration assures that it never sends emails with requests for action or for the release of bank details. Anyone who receives such emails and has doubts should contact the police immediately.
The topic of phishing is becoming increasingly explosive, especially in times of digital communication. The consumer advice center has also published current warnings that deal with phishing emails. A special Postbank scam involves users being asked to “restore full access” to their account. An “additional security check” is required, which is associated with a processing fee of 79.99 euros, but it remains unclear where the fraudsters get these unauthorized requirements from. This type of email also often contains dubious sender addresses, impersonal salutations and deadlines that are intended to unsettle users. It is advisable to simply move such emails to the spam folder.
