Erfurt celebrates 700 years of Krämerbrücke: A festival of superlatives!

The Krämerbrückenfest in Erfurt, which took place from June 13th to 15th, 2025, was a complete success and brought a cheerful, peaceful atmosphere to the city center. The festival, which celebrated the 700th birthday of the Krämerbrücke, attracted around 150,000 visitors who dressed up in costumes and danced under the bright rays of the sun and in hot temperatures. Mayor Andreas Horn was proud of the festival and thanked everyone involved as well as the residents who, for example, showed understanding for the necessary closures in the city center. These were implemented consistently and fortunately there were no major incidents during the festival.

An art installation by Robert Leuschner called “pons invisibilis” was at the center of the event. This impressive installation, which depicts the bridge's vaulted structure with six shimmering sequin arches, will be on view on the Krämerbrücke until the beginning of July. The festival's musical diversity was also remarkable, with over 300 artists, including stars such as Lotte and Roy Bianco & the Abbrunzati Boys, performing across eight main stages and six action areas. The highlight of Saturday was all artists singing together with Philipp's pub choir.

Fireworks and safety concept

The festival culminated on Saturday evening with a spectacular fireworks display that lit up the night and thrilled visitors. A well thought-out security concept, implemented in collaboration with the police, fire brigade and emergency services, ensured the safety of everyone present and remained stable throughout the festival. Public transport was increased and extended parking garage opening times were well received.

Over the years, the number of festival visitors in Germany has increased continuously. According to current data, around a third of festival visitors regularly attend such events. This shows how important such events are for citizens to experience culture and share joy. The musical genres that the festival highlighted ranged from jazz, pop, folk to children's programs - culture for every generation!

Outlook and survey

The anticipation for the next Krämerbrückenfest is already there, because the dates for the coming year have been set: from June 19th to 21st, 2026, the Krämerbrücke will once again be the scene of exciting experiences. In order to further develop the event in the future, those responsible have started a survey that will remain open until June 22nd. Visitors' opinions are sought to make the celebrations even more colorful and inviting.

The Krämerbrückenfest is not only a cultural highlight for Erfurt, but also promotes a sense of community and attracts visitors from the entire region. This unforgettable weekend created memories that will stay with you for a long time.
