Pure excitement! VC Wiesbaden meets Erfurt in a volleyball thriller!
On October 28, 2025, the volleyball world in Wiesbaden and Erfurt will be turned upside down. The VC Wiesbaden will welcome the guests of Schwarz-Weiß Erfurt at 7:30 p.m. in the sports hall at the Platz der DeutschenUnity. With both teams having had a mixed start to the season so far, the aim is to collect important points and not lose touch with the top places in the table.
After a big upheaval in the summer, VC Wiesbaden has only been able to get one win out of three games in the current season, the same applies to the women from Erfurt. The assistant coach of Schwarz-Weiß Erfurt, Rebekka Schneider, is optimistic and expressed the wish to be able to keep up better in the upcoming matches. This is also reflected in the exciting performance of both teams in their duel so far.
Thrilling duel between Wiesbaden and Erfurt
The most recent meeting between the two teams was a real volleyball thriller. In the first set, the guests from Erfurt temporarily led 21:20, but in the end they had to admit defeat 22:25. The second set was also close, but ended with the same result in Wiesbaden's favor. But the Erfurt women did not allow themselves to be discouraged and won the third set 25:18 and the fourth set even clearly with 25:11. In the decisive fifth set it remained exciting until the score was 9:9 before Wiesbaden was able to pull away with 13:10.
Erfurt came back to 13:12 and even fended off the first match point. The second match point for Wiesbaden, which ultimately decided the game, was decided by a service error from Erfurt at 13:15. A dramatic end to a thrilling match that provided plenty of thrills for the spectators.
The way forward
After this intense English week, which already included two games, VC Wiesbaden is hoping for an outstanding performance against Schwarz-Weiß Erfurt. The previous Friday they lost the away game against a strong team from Dresden, and now it's time to bring about a positive turnaround in the home game in front of their own fans. In the first home game of the season against Skurios Volleys Borken they were able to win in front of 1,873 spectators - now there is hope of continuing this success with another home win.
