The popular oneHofwiesenbadGera is facing comprehensive changes. Renovation work on the roof will begin at the beginning of next month and should be completed by the end of 2025. Until now, the 50-meter swimming pool has not been available since the end of May, and the leisure area and sauna now also have restrictions. These measures are necessary to keep the bathroom attractive and functional for visitors.

Renovation work and planned closing times
The entire swimming pool will be closed for three weeks from July 14, 2025 due to the annual inspection. Following this, the first swimming courses for primary school students are planned from August 11, 2025. The leisure activities and sauna facilities will then be available again for these students.
The city of Gera has already made some investments in recent times. After a six-week closure period, the Hofwiesenbad was only recently reopened. During the summer holidays, not only was the water - a total of 160,000 liters - replaced, but parts of the filter systems were also replaced. A new scoreboard was installed to allow for national and international championships. This investment of 38,000 euros is intended to further increase the attractiveness of the pool, which MDR.de reports.
Funding for renovation projects
The renovation of the Hofwiesenbad is part of a larger federal program. Federal Minister Klara Geywitz announced that400 million euros for energy-efficient renovations of municipal facilitiesbe available.
