Volunteer get-together in Gotha: exchange and networking in focus!

On November 19th at 6 p.m., the Gotha district invites all volunteers and interested parties to the first volunteer get-together in the auditorium of the Arnoldi School in Gotha. This event, like Gotha Current reports, offers an excellent platform for exchange, networking and information about volunteering. The participants are in dialogue with other volunteers and representatives of the administration to discuss current developments in the area of volunteer work.

The special thing about this get-together is its regularity: further meetings are planned at different locations in the district. This not only creates the opportunity to network, but also to contribute ideas and suggestions. A small snack and drinks will be provided to ensure a pleasant atmosphere. Anyone who would like to take part should register by November 5th. All you need to do is send an email voluntary@diakonie-gotha.de or call 03621 305842.

The volunteer card as a thank you

Since 2007, the Gotha district has been awarding the Free State of Thuringia's volunteer card to deserving citizens, such as Gotha district reported. These committed people benefit from reduced rates in numerous establishments and shops, including museums, swimming pools and restaurants. For card holders, the voucher ranges from half admission prices to special offers.

The volunteer card is awarded to people who are at least 18 years old, who work at least five hours a week in voluntary work, have been actively involved in an organization for five years and do not receive any compensation beyond reimbursement of expenses. Suggestions for new card holders can easily be sent directly to the district office.

Volunteering in Germany

According to the Federal Ministry of the Interior, around 29 million people in Germany do voluntary work. The term “volunteering” describes an activity that is not only free of charge, but is also public and in the interests of third parties, such as the platform Vostel explained. In contrast to one-off actions, volunteer positions are designed for the long term and help a community continually grow and stick together.

In times when volunteers are more often active on a project basis, non-profit organizations have to find new approaches to attract young citizens to get involved. Social and charitable commitment in a wide variety of areas, from ecological to cultural, remains a central part of our society.

The upcoming volunteer get-together offers the perfect opportunity to make a personal statement about cohesion and commitment in the region. Be there!
