There is currently good news in Gotha for all seniors who are interested in education and self-development. As gotha-aktuell.info reports, remaining tickets for the coveted Senior Academy 2025/26 are available. Mayor Knut Kreuch launched this series of events to introduce older people to interesting topics and to offer them a platform for exchange.

The lectures take place in the Hanns Cibulka Hall of the Heinrich Heine City Library. The next thought-provoking lecture is entitled "Is our civilization capable of surviving? - On population growth, resource depletion and paths to nature-oriented technologies" and begins on October 6, 2025 at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Speaker Prof. Dr. Bernd Hill, a recognized bionics researcher, enriches the academic group with his expertise. The lectures are not only informative, they also promote active discussion.

Diverse topics for seniors

But that's not all! On October 27, 2025, interest remains high with the topic “Laßwitz and the shot into space – technical fiction from Gotha”. Ronny Lehmann will guide participants through historical and technical secrets. The series of lectures continues with exciting topics such as artificial intelligence, self-care in old age and disaster control in the Gotha district. Here is an overview of the upcoming events:

Education as a key to participation

The importance of education in old age should not be underestimated. The Federal Ministry of the Interior emphasizes that education and digital skills are essential for older people to actively participate in social life. Digital media enable seniors, for example, to carry out online banking or book doctor's appointments, which makes everyday life much easier.

As part of the “DigitalPakt Alter” project, special focus is placed on promoting digital technologies. Advice and training are offered on site to help older people find their way in the digital space. The upcoming lectures in Gotha not only represent an opportunity to deepen knowledge, but also a step towards independence and participation in the digital age.

So if you want to broaden your horizons and have interesting conversations, you shouldn't miss the Senior Academy's events!
