Honor for master craftsmen: 21 anniversaries honored in southern Thuringia!

On July 1, 2025, the 29th honorary event of the Southern Thuringia Chamber of Crafts took place in the Vocational Training and Technology Center (BTZ) Rohr-Kloster. On this celebratory day, prestigious awards were presented to 21 master craftsmen and women who achieved significant life achievements with their work and passion for the craft. Among those honored is Bernd Häfner, who was honored with the honorary master's certificate for his many years of work as a master motor vehicle mechanic from Schleusingen. The award was presented by Chamber of Crafts President Mike Kämmer, who recognized the achievements of the people celebrating their anniversary.

But that wasn't everything. In the last honor event, which took place on June 25, 2024, 31 master craftsmen were honored. 23 anniversaries received the Golden Master Certificate for 50 years of mastery and 6 received the Diamond Master Certificate for 60 years. Particularly noteworthy was master glassblower Klaus Pfeifer, who received a certificate of honor for his 65 years of mastery. Master carpenter Wolfram Böhnhardt was honored for his commitment to craft education and initiated projects such as mobile carpentry workshops for children and workshops in schools. These activities show how craftsmen not only preserve their traditions, but also actively contribute to supporting young people.

The meaning of the master's certificate

The master craftsman certificate is not just a piece of paper, but a recognized seal of quality that symbolizes the expertise and tradition of the craft. As workstool.de describes, this qualification not only serves as proof of the skills and knowledge of a craftsman, but also offers numerous advantages. The master craftsman's certificate makes it possible to set up or take over a business and protects consumers from unqualified craftsmen. This ensures trust in the quality of craft services and highlights the importance of crafts in society.

In order to obtain the master craftsman's certificate, craftsmen must pass various tests that require both theoretical and practical knowledge. As a rule, completed vocational training and several years of professional experience are required. These requirements guarantee that only the best of the best are allowed to hold the championship title. The master craftsman's certificate symbolizes not only the individual success of a craftsman, but also the tradition and craft heritage of Germany.

A look at the anniversaries

The honors at the BTZ are not only recognition of the personal commitment of those celebrating their anniversary, but also of their contribution to the development of crafts in the region. In addition to Bernd Häfner, master blacksmith Joachim Ebert from Harras and master plasterer Brigitte Schönau from Sonneberg were honored, among others. Such events show how important it is to highlight the achievements of long-standing craftsmen and make their successes visible in the community.

The South Thuringia Chamber of Crafts will continue to stand by its masters and thus contribute to ensuring that the valuable tradition of craftsmanship is not only preserved, but also revitalized. Looking back on the challenges of the past, the celebrants not only mastered their careers with their commitment, but also inspired generations of subsequent craftsmen.
