Pure inclusion: Sports festival in Bedheim inspires young and old!

In bright summer weather, numerous participants gathered on June 20, 2025 at the 12th integrative sports festival of TSV Blau-Weiß Bedheim. Organized by Marion Seeber, the event was under the motto "Being there is everything". A platform was created around the Albert-Schweizer special school and the Kneipp primary school Bedheim, which was entirely devoted to inclusion and cooperation. In addition to the schools, kindergartens from Bedheim and Eialamberg also took part. The Grandma-OMA-ONKEL sports group from Römhild was new this year, which was partially managed by Ingrid.

The sports festival was ceremoniously opened by District Administrator Sven Gregor, who emphasized the importance of this event for the community. Particular attention was paid to the promotion of inclusion, which was supported by corresponding offers from the district sports association. The integrative stations and activities offered everyone, regardless of their skills, the opportunity to do sports and have fun.

program points and experiences

The children had a lot of fun at the various stations that the Landesportbund presented with its integration mobile. A highlight was the opportunity for the young participants to take the sports badge, which increased the excitement and commitment. The event was musically framed by a children's and youth orchestra from Gleichamberg, which loosened up the mood with great performances.

The idea behind this sports festival is to bring people together and to offer them the opportunity to experience equality and community. This is not only shown in Bedheim, where integration is made tangible, but also in other cities. On November 2, 2025, the sports office of the city of Frankfurt am Main is planning an inclusive game and sports festival in the Kalbach sports and leisure center, which is organized by TSV 1875 Bonames e.V.

strengthen inclusion in sport

With a colorful program of climbing stations, trampolines, bouncy castles, ball games and roller playing course, Frankfurt also focuses on promoting inclusion for people with and without disabilities. Everything is offered here to reduce barriers and to raise awareness of diversity in sport. The event aims to reduce discrimination and promote acceptance, which is safe in view of the approximately 1200 square meter action space.

Inclusion is an important topic that has been discussed in German sport for many years. The efforts to enable people with disabilities to participate equally are in progress, but there is still a lot to do. The UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities has been demanding that people with impairments have access to sport and leisure activities. Some progress has been made in recent decades, but the challenges, especially in the area of competitive sports, are still great.

Examples from reality, such as those of Natalie du Toit, a South African swimmer, show how sport can change the life of people with disabilities positively. She successfully participated in international competitions and thus wrote an inspiring story in the world of sport. Such experiences also motivate in this country and show how important it is to stand up for inclusion and to be strong together.

The integrative sports festival in Bedheim is not just an event, but a sign of the importance of inclusion in sport. The tireless efforts of organizations and sports clubs create the framework conditions so that everyone has the chance to actively and successfully participate.
