Schleusingen celebrates 30 years of the city chapel with a large anniversary concert!

On June 30, 2025, a very special festival takes place in the picturesque Schleusingen: The city chapel celebrates its 30th anniversary with a concert under flowering linden trees. The atmosphere will be festive and happy, because a loyal fan base gathers in the school yard of the Gerhart Hauptmann school to celebrate this musical milestone together. Detlef Klett, the chairman of the music association, will take a look back at the original city chapel founded in 1931 and shed light on the development of the chapel in the past three decades. The Big Band of the Stadtkapelle will contribute to the concert and give the guests a foretaste of the musical program.

But it is not just the Schleusingen city chapel that has played an important role in regional musical life in recent years. The Big Band of the Eichsfeld-Gymnasium also has an impressive anniversary. As early as September 2022, the band members shone on the occasion of their 25th anniversary. Over 70 musicians, consisting of current and former students, gave their best under the direction of Hartwig Depenbrock, the band founder, to prepare an unforgettable concert with hits like "Bad Guy" and "Hallelujah". Samples took place together with around 50 former band members, which shows the connection and cohesion that the band has built up over the years [Eichsfeld-Gymnasium].

A look at the big band culture

Big Bands have their own place in the music scene. The SWR Big Band will also give an impressive concert on the occasion of its 75th anniversary. On April 1, 2026, the Liederhalle in Stuttgart turns into a scene full of musical highlights. The concert promises a journey through the history of the band, under the direction of the multi -award -winning Magnus Lindgren, which not only plays tenor saxophone, but also flute and clarinet. The sound design is enriched by the participation of strings and percussionists, and surprise guests are announced [SWR] emphasizes the importance of this anniversary.

These anniversaries not only show how deeply the roots of music are anchored in the community, but also the importance of youth work in schools. The promotion of talents and the exchange between former and current students is an important part that will inspire future generations. In times of social distance, returning to such happy occasions is more than a reason to celebrate. They are a sign of connection and coexistence in music. Whether in Schleusingen or at the Eichsfeld-Gymnasium, the love of music and the community are the focus-and that is simply great!

With all of these events, one thing remains clear: the local music scene is alive and blooming than ever before. The committed musicians who put their passion into their art and bring generations together are an integral part of this community. We look forward to these musical highlights!
