World Children's Day 2025 in Themar: A celebration for the future of children!
On September 20, 2025, a colorful festival for World Children's Day will be celebrated in Themar. The event, which takes place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., stretches between the sports field and the shooting hall and has the motto “Your Day” – a call to give children a place at the center. How insuedthueringen.de reports, the first big children's festival in 2023 in the Hennebergisches Museum Kloster Veßra surprised with around 5,000 visitors.
A central goal of the celebrations is to educate children about their rights, which are important not only for individual well-being but also for democracy. The German Children's Fund emphasizes that the idea of democracy among children and young people is directly linked to their understanding of their rights. On the occasion of World Children's Day, we not only celebrate but also point out the importance of children's rights. These form the basis for sustainable and child-friendly societies dkhw.de explained.
Children's rights and democracy
The demand to include the rights of the young generation more in political decisions is urgent. UNICEF Germany and the German Children's Fund have been actively campaigning for the rights of children in Germany for five decades. Particular focus is on overcoming child poverty and the active participation of young people in decisions that affect their lives.
One of the highlights of this year's World Children's Day is a nationwide participation campaign. On the occasion of the festival it becomes clear that understanding of children's rights is celebrated not only in Themar, but in over 145 countries. A special event will take place the day before, on September 19th, in front of the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin. The “House of Children’s Rights” is presented there, consisting of painted building blocks that represent the demands and wishes of young people and were creatively designed by students from the Löcknitz primary school. This campaign, organized by UNICEF and the DKHW, will show how powerful children's voices can be in political discourse. Like this <= unicef.de reported.
Joint commitment in Themar
In Themar, numerous local clubs take part in the festival, including the Themar sports club, the swimming pool club and others. Thomas Jakob, spokesman for the Alliance for Democracy and Cosmopolitanism, is pleased with the support and lively participation, which also reflects the surprise at the success of the previous year. In order not to exceed the expansion and capacity limits, the festival takes place every two years, so that everyone involved could have a good hand in planning.
World Children's Day in Themar will therefore be an important event that brings children and adults together to celebrate children's rights and strengthen them in the political process. The anticipation of another successful celebration dedicated to children's rights is already palpable!
