Ilm district receives over 5 million euros for regional development projects!

There is reason to be happy in the Ilm district: the region is receiving over five million euros in funding to advance development. This financial injection is made up of various support measures that aim to significantly strengthen the economic and social infrastructure. So reported insuedthueringen.de of two important projects in urban development, which alone will receive around 4.9 million euros and are funded by EU and state funds.

Particularly noteworthy is the inter-municipal initiative “Thüringer Bogen”, which was awarded an impressive 554,000 euros for its measures from the joint task “Improvement of the regional economic structure” (GRW). This initiative represents an important step to promote cooperation between neighboring counties and benefit from shared strengths.

Economic dynamics in the region

Along with Gotha, the Ilm district is one of the economically strongest districts in Thuringia. With innovative and technology-oriented companies as well as research institutions that offer attractive jobs, the region is increasingly valued as a place to live. The joint regional management was founded in August 2018 and has since initiated a variety of projects to advance regional development. Regional management is required to better network the players from business, science and administration and to put the region in a good light with targeted marketing, we learn thueringer-bogen.de.

The funding not only helps to direct investments in infrastructure, but also secures jobs and creates new perspectives for the population. As part of the joint task, considerable sums have already been granted as grants in recent years. 1,719,999 euros went to improve the regional economic structure, and the own contributions are also fairly borne by the districts of Gotha and Ilm-Kreis.

The way into the future

The next steps within this funding are already planned. The deadline for submitting projects to the regional budget was October 15, 2025, and the next steering group meeting is scheduled for December 19, 2025. Grants are planned for up to 70% of the total eligible expenses, which are intended to support economic growth and regional marketing.

With the focus on regional cooperation and the supply of skilled workers, the aim is to continue to set the course for the positive development of the region in the future. The three years in which the regional budget and regional management are in force can even be extended twice by three years each if necessary. This sustainable collaboration promises long-term success for the Ilm district.
