CSD Jena in danger: finances are shaky – support the fundraising campaign!

Jena is preparing for Christopher Street Day (CSD), but the preparations are in jeopardy. The reason: there is a lack of urgently needed financial resources. One of the organizers, Theresa Ertel, is confident that the event on June 21st can take place despite these uncertainties. She reports that a funding application has not been processed for six weeks and that donations are currently being sought to realize the street festival. Over Thuringia24 We learn that the organizers are aiming for a sum of 9,000 euros, of which more than 5,000 euros have already been raised.

The stage program promises a colorful festival with two live bands, a queer play and a rousing show performed by eight drag queens. Apart from Jena, there are numerous other CSD events planned in Germany, which will take place from April to September 2025. The CSD, named after the legendary Stonewall uprising of 1969, is a significant event that fights for equality and social change, as Couple of Men explains.

Celebrate diversity and address challenges

The CSD events are not only an occasion to celebrate, but also bring awareness to the challenges that the LGBTQ+ community still has to overcome. In Germany, numerous organizers report homophobic attacks and discrimination, which underlines the importance of these events. The Spartacus Gay Travel Index 2025, which assesses the situation of LGBTQ+ people in Germany, shows a worrying picture in this context.

In many cities in Germany, including Jena, it is impressively shown that support for the LGBTQ+ community and the fight for equal rights are still very relevant. In North Rhine-Westphalia, for example, the Pride commitment is supplemented by CSDs in Cologne, Düsseldorf and Paderborn, which strengthens the cohesion and diversity of the LGBTQ+ community. And things are going well in Hamburg too - the street festival from August 5th to 7th attracts with live music and a variety of events as part of Pride Week, as [Radio Hamburg](https://www.radiohamburg.de/aktuelles/hamburg/CSD-Stra%C3%9Fenfest- Veranstaltungen-rund-um-die-Pride-Week-id712739.html) reports.

Whether in Jena or elsewhere – the CSD is a strong symbol of tolerance and respect. Let's hope that the fundraising campaign will soon reach its desired goal and the event will be a complete success! The anticipation is increasing, and with a little support, the CSD in Jena can become a radiant celebration of diversity.
