The construction work that started in July 2024 includes a lot. The old tracks were dismantled and replaced by a modern system of long -range beams and vibration -damping tracks. However, there are still restrictions on Naumburger Straße, which are expected to last until September. The Stifterstraße stops are not served for the time being. Mobilitaet.jena.de confirmed that the tracks and top lines in northwestern Jena were modernized by the end of 2023 and the total costs for track construction were around 3.2 million euros.
In the meantime, the work on Ernst-Abbe-Platz is also in full swing. These are expected to continue until the end of the year. - Burgauer Weg / Camburger Straße: full closure until June 24, 2025 due to civil engineering work on the gas line.
- Carl-Zeiss-Platz: full closure until August 29, 2025 due to the renovation of the German optical museum.
- Dammstraße: full closure by June 30, 2025 due to cable.
- Dorfstraße: full closure by June 20, 2025 due to channel work.
- Nordschule stop: half -sided closure until August 29, 2025 due to the renovation of the tram stop.
With a view to the coming months, it is clear that Jena is experiencing an exciting phase of growth and upgrading public transport. Hopefully the patience of the residents will soon pay off if the trams can do their laps again and that everyday life is made easier.
