Hansa women disappoint in Jena – The setback series continues!

An exciting weekend for women's football in Germany! While the Hansa women remain in search of form after a narrow defeat in Jena last Sunday, the Hansa Rostock team celebrated an impressive win against 1. FC Magdeburg in the East derby.

In Jena, Hansa burst into celebration after just 16 minutes with a goal from Wiebke Lehmann. But as is the way in football, Emy Bührig equalized for Jena in the 37th minute and the halftime score was 1:1. After an hour, an own goal from Jena put the Rostock team back in the lead, but Jena managed to equalize again before things became turbulent in the final phase. Four goals in just a few minutes sealed the defeat for Hansa, and Jena ultimately triumphed 5-2. Karla Görlitz had a memorable afternoon and scored a hat-trick, while Hansa coach Scholz praised his team's defensive performance. Unfortunately, the team now has three defeats from four games this season before they have to face league leaders 1.FC Magdeburg on October 4th. The players are hoping for a turnaround in the game in order to leave the current challenges behind them. This game starts at 12 p.m. in Rostock and the anticipation is already palpable.

Victory for Hansa Rostock in the East derby

In a completely different mood, the Hansa Rostock team showed an impressive performance in the East derby against 1. FC Magdeburg. With a clear 6-2 win, Hansa ended a drought of three defeats in a row and secured their second win of the season. In a thrilling game, captain Lara Montzki scored the first goal with a hand penalty in the 22nd minute, followed by Malin Drockner and Julia Heinschel, who scored twice. The fighting spirit and implementation of the match plan were praised by coach Tino Spörk, and the team has been playing undefeated on their artificial turf since July 2023.

The table situation looks significantly better for Hansa after these two games. With now seven points and a place in eighth position, there is only one point behind fourth place, while there are four points between Hansa and the first relegation zone. The next challenge won't be easy, but the win against Magdeburg gives the team a boost.

The growth of women's football

Younger fan groups who enjoy a less violent atmosphere and want to be closer to the players could be of particular interest. The research also encourages those responsible to further develop women's football as an independent sport, independent of classic men's football.

So there is a lot at stake in women's football - both for the Hansa women and for the entire league. The upcoming games will show which way the wind really blows.
