Jena talent Antonio Jozanovic is moving to Borussia Mönchengladbach!
There are always exciting developments and young talents making a splash in football. At the moment it's all about Antonio Jozanovic, because the young player is moving from FC Carl Zeiss Jena to Borussia Mönchengladbach. This was a difficult step because sports director Miroslav Jovic emphasized that the Jena team tried everything to keep Jozanovic. Nevertheless, the 18-year-old decided on a new challenge in the summer of 2025.
The talented midfielder, born on July 2, 2006 in Kassel, will strengthen Borussia Mönchengladbach's U23 team. He drew impressive attention with an impressive 13 goals in 18 appearances last season. Jozanovic, who came to Jena at the age of 14, was able to make his way into the first team squad, but he has so far been denied his debut appearance. The move now also brings financial compensation for FC Carl Zeiss Jena, which is welcome news at a time when the club is fighting for promotion in the regional league.
The change: A new chance for Jozanovic
The decision to change lies in the search for a greater challenge. Jovic said that Jena's offer was not in competition with Gladbach's. It is a clear path to the next league for the talented player, who has now also been called up for the Croatian youth national team, albeit without playing.
In the early years of his career, Jozanovic played for the clubs OSC Vellmar, KSV Hessen Kassel and KSV Baunatal. From 2021 he was active in the youth performance center in Jena, where his talent was comprehensively promoted.
Promoting talent in German football
Jozanovic's development reflects how important talent development is in German football. The DFB talent development program (TFP) enables young players to be discovered and encouraged. The program includes 339 bases in all regions of Germany, where around 14,000 talented players of prime learning age receive intensive support. These measures are particularly important in order to expand the pool of strong, technically skilled and creative footballers. Especially in the U12 to U15 age range, the talents receive additional training every week, which gives them the opportunity to continuously improve.
With the move to Borussia Mönchengladbach, Antonio Jozanovic is at the beginning of a new chapter in his career. The football world will be watching his development with excitement because the next steps could be crucial for his future.
