U21 cracker in Jena: Germany meets Greece!
On Friday, October 10, 2025, the German U21 national team has an important date in Jena. She takes on Greece at 6 p.m. and the whole thing will be broadcast live on ProSieben MAXX. You can also follow the exciting duel in the live stream on Joyn, ran.de and in the ran app. The moderator Matthias Opdenhövel will start the broadcast from 5:30 p.m.
It will be Antonio Di Salvo's 40th game as U21 national coach and he is fielding a strong team. In this match, Germany will wear their traditional white jerseys, while Greece will wear blue. At the whistle will be Italian referee Matteo Marcenaro, supported by his compatriots Alessio Berti, Davide Moro and fourth official Giuseppe Collu.
Strong starting position in Group F
The German U21s are optimistic about the game, as after their glorious 5-0 win in the opening game against Latvia, they share the lead in Group F with the Greeks, who also scored an impressive 5-0 win against Malta. In the spirit of Di Salvo, who hopes to win the group and take part in the 2027 European Championships in Albania and Serbia, every game is now crucial.
Football fans can look forward to an exciting game, and the record between Germany and Greece also promises emotions: in 11 matches, the German U21s have four wins, four defeats and three draws, with a balanced goal difference of 14:14. It is particularly pleasing that Germany are unbeaten in four games against Greece and have won the last three games, most recently 2-0 in Zwickau six years ago.
Personnel changes and expectations
In the preparation phase, Di Salvo made some personnel changes. The injured players Mio Backhaus and Finn Jeltsch will be missing, and Linus Gechter and Aljoscha Kemlein have also opted out. Instead, he nominated fresh players in Elias Baum and Kofi Amoako. The latter will make his debut in the squad. Another highlight is the nomination of Tom Bischof, who can shine as a newcomer, and Paul Wanner, who is returning after an injury break.
The U21 relies on an exciting mix of experienced players and new talents, such as European runner-up Pharrell Nnamdi Collins and others. And although Youssoufa Moukoko, who most recently played for FC Copenhagen, cannot be there, the team is determined to take on the challenge against Greece and the subsequent game against Northern Ireland in Belfast on October 14th.
Aseko, Damar, El Mala and Co. certainly have a “good hand” to take the next steps towards the European Championship. The fans can be excited because the next two games could point the way to qualification for the 2027 European Championship and even the 2028 Olympic qualification.
For all spectators who would like to be there live, there is plenty of information about arrival, tickets and fan support in the stadium. Information about this can be found on the official pages. The team is ready for another glorious chapter in the history of German young footballers.
