Maintenance work in the Jena swimming paradise: Halle closed until July 27th!
Jena, Deutschland - In Jena, the maintenance of the “Swimming Paradise Jena” sports swimming pool is currently in full swing. Since Friday, July 11, 2025, the popular sports facility has been closed due to planned cleaning and maintenance work. This measure is part of the regular maintenance planning, which ensures the security and company comfort of the visitors, as the Stadtwerke Jena announced in a current message. The reopening of the hall is planned for Monday, July 28, 2025.
The water from the large 50-meter pool, which takes around 2,100 cubic meters, is currently being drained. In addition to cleaning work, there are also smaller repairs. These include cleaning tiles and joints, as well as the exchange of damaged tiles. Ventilation and safety technology as well as the sanitary facilities and the lifting floor are also being put to the test. In coordination with around 15 specialist companies, it is ensured that everything works perfectly after the maintenance work.
maintenance brings advantages
The closing time is not only used for cleaning the pools, but also for the maintenance of the technical systems. While the competition pool is cleaned, the teaching pool requires similar treatment. This must also be re -filled and heated up after cleaning. Depending on the pelvis, different time frames are planned: While the teaching pool with a water temperature of at least 31 degrees Celsius can be used again after about a week, the large pool is heated up within four to five days.
For all swimming enthusiasts who do not want to do without their training during this time, the Galaxsea leisure pool and the outdoor pools in Jena are available as an alternative. This is considered a good way to bridge the time until the reopening.
federal funding for sports facilities
The extensive maintenance work in the "Swimming Paradise Jena" is part of a larger trend that is supported by the federal program for the renovation of local institutions in the areas of sports, youth and culture. This program, which has been running since 2016, aims to reduce the renovation backlog among social infrastructures such as swimming pools and sports facilities. By 2021, thanks to this initiative, 904 projects with funding of around 1.5 billion euros were selected, as can be read on the website of the Federal Ministry of Housing, Urban Development and Building (BMWSB). BMWSB reports on an energetic renovation to achieve the climate work, which is also important for the maintenance work in Jena could be.
Overall, the ongoing maintenance measures ensure that the “swimming paradise Jena” will continue to be an attractive starting point for swimmers of all ages.
