Wolfrum remains: continuity at jenawohnen secured until 2031!
The Stadtwerke Jena Group relies on continuity: Tobias Wolfrum, the current managing director of jenawohnen GmbH, has been appointed for another term of office. His new term will run from July 1, 2026 to June 30, 2031. The supervisory board of Stadtwerke Energie Jena-Pößneck GmbH approved the reappointment at its most recent meeting. Dr. Thomas Nitzsche, Mayor of Jena and Chairman of the Supervisory Board, emphasizes the importance of Wolfrum's commitment and experience. Under his leadership, important topics such as sustainable neighborhood development and progressive digitalization in the city were advanced.
While Wolfrum will continue his business at jenawohnen, his position as managing director of jENERGIE GmbH will end on October 30, 2025. His successor in this position will be Susanne Lippmann, who has been head of technical management at jenawohnen since 2019. Lippmann will serve as managing director of jENERGIE GmbH until October 30, 2030. Christoph Kindt remains active in the company as second managing director. jENERGIE GmbH is a 100 percent subsidiary of Stadtwerke Energie Jena-Pößneck and has set itself the goal of developing innovative ideas for smart neighborhoods.
Innovative projects in Jena
jENERGIE GmbH has already expanded its work further. It began operations on January 12, 2021. The company's main goal is to actively shape the energy transition and to develop innovative ideas and services for smart residential areas. Particular attention is paid to the “Smart Quarter Jena-Lobeda” model project, in which jENERGIE plays a central role. The municipal housing company Jenawohnen is currently renovating around 270 apartments on Ziegesarstrasse, 143 of which are intended as social housing.
The renovated apartments will be equipped with modern smart home applications. This gives tenants access to various service offerings in the areas of energy, health, mobility, logistics and purchasing. The learning effects from this model project should not only be used at Jenawohnen, but also in other residential projects in and around Jena. jENERGIE has clearly focused on the energy and climate transition in residential areas.
Joint efforts for a sustainable future
As part of the “City and District Development” sub-project of the city of Jena, care is also taken to ensure that social and societal factors are also taken into account in addition to the energy economic aspects. The goal is a democratic and gender-equitable orientation of the energy transition. The focus is on linking centralized and decentralized energy concepts, with citizens increasingly being involved as prosumers – i.e. as producers and consumers – in the design of the energy supply. Innovative approaches from the community energy movement also come into play here.
The Jena region continues to rely on increased local energy supply through citizen energy communities, which is viewed as a supplementary level to the local supply structure. This committed approach helps to advance the energy transition and make the city sustainable.
