Witch races on Halloween: fun for the whole family in Rothesütte!
On October 31, 2025, Rothesütte will once again be transformed into a magical setting: the second Harz Witch Race is just around the corner! This event, which is organized by the HEX Erlebniswelt, the Harz Slalom Club, the Benneckenstein Winter Sports Club and other partners, has established itself as an outstanding event over the last year. Around 200 participants in imaginative costumes ensured a successful premiere. To ensure that this year's event is a complete success, the focus is on the team and family spirit, rather than on top sporting performances.
The location for the race is the HEX adventure world in Rothesütte, which opens on October 1st. Here participants can prepare for different route lengths that have been designed for every sporting level:
- Bambini-Lauf für die Jüngsten.
- 2-Kilometer-Hindernisstrecke.
- 4-Kilometer-Hindernisstrecke.
- 8-Kilometer-Route zur Skisprung-Schanze in Benneckenstein.
The number of participants is limited to 444, so that an early Online registration is strongly recommended. There are separate participant limits for individual participants on the various routes. 199 participants are allowed to take on the 2 km long route, 99 on the 4 km long route and only 47 on the impressive 8 km route. The little bambinis are also warmly invited to show off their sporting skills with a 400-meter run, where 99 places are also reserved.
An event for the whole family
Family-friendliness is very important! The event is not just a run, but an experience for young and old. Medals, prizes for the most original costumes and small surprise packages for the children also await the starters. The best disguises are recognized with a special award, which also ensures creative costume ideas. If you need ideas, you could take inspiration from popular Halloween activities like pumpkin carving and games like apple bite.
The details about late registration are also important on the day of the event: This is possible on site up to 30 minutes before the starts, whereby an entry fee of €10 must be paid on the day of the event. If you want to register late, you should also keep an eye on the late registration fees: for the 2 km route it is €5, €10 for the 4 km and €15 for the 8 km.
Preparing for the big day
A little tip for all participants: It's best to plan in advance to be well prepared. In addition to registering, travel and an emergency bag for snacks and water should also be organized. It's especially important for families to keep children's safety in mind during the event, so consider reflective costumes and meeting points.
With all these sparkling details, nothing stands in the way of a fun and adventurous day. For more information and to register, go to official website of the Harz Witch Race. Look forward to a spooky, fun and active Halloween day in Rothesütte!
