Demonstration in Meiningen: Solidarity for imprisoned Maja T.

In the coming days, Germany will be shaped by various demonstrations that pursue a common concern: Solidarity with the left-wing activist Maja T., which is imprisoned in Hungary, on Friday, June 20, at 6 p.m., such an event will take place in Meiningen. The demo is organized by the left Schmalkalden-Meiningen and the left youth (Solid) Schmalkalden-Meiningen. The campaign is also supported by the DGB Schmalkalden Meiningen and the left Suhl as well as the alliance for democracy and tolerance Meiningen. This mobilization is supplemented by a press conference on June 14th, in which prominent participants such as Wolfram Jarosch, the father of Maja T., and members of the Greens and the left have had their say. Insuedthueringen reports in detail.

But not only in Meiningen the voices against the Hungarian authorities are loud. Another demonstration will take place in Leipzig on Saturday, which begins at 3 p.m. at the Bavarian train station. Under the motto "No Extradition-Anti-Fascist demonstration in Leipzig due to Maja’s delivery to the Orban regime in Hungary" gather here. Maja T., who identified as a non-bobage, was handed over to the Hungarian authorities a week ago. She is accused of being involved in attacks on participants in a neo-Nazi event in Budapest. The fears are great that she could become an anti -queer discrimination in Hungary. The route of the demo leads via Windmühlenstrasse, southern Wilhelm-Leuschner-Platz, Peterssteinweg and Karl-Liebknecht-Straße before it ends on Wolfgang-Heinze-Strasse. TAG24 provides further details on the possible traffic restrictions during the event.

set a sign for Maja t.

The developments related to Maja T. are not isolated. At the nationwide level, the queer anti-queuces and the pressure on the LGBTQ+community are increasing. This problem also becomes clear in another major demonstration, which recently took place in Berlin and in Brandenburg. Around 100,000 people took part in protests across Germany under the motto "voting Love" to draw attention to the dangers of the achievements of the queer rights. While the mood on the net becomes rougher, the appeal to the voters is clear: it is important to support queer -friendly parties. [RBB24] (https://www.rbb24.de/payhung/2025/02/berlin-brandenburg-csd-demonstration--lgbtq- Bundesagen election.html) emphasizes the need to defend existing rights, while prominent supporters such as Conchita Wurst participated in the event.

It is clear that solidarity with Maja T. goes far beyond the regional borders and represents a movement of society as a whole. Whether in Meiningen or Leipzig, which demonstrates: inside show that they are ready to stand up for the concerns of the queer community and to defend themselves against the discrimination against minorities. These actions are not only a signal for Maja, but also a strong sign for the community as a whole. The pressure on the political decision -makers remains high - and thank God the support of civil society.
