Children's town Tiberanda”: An adventure for 130 little explorers in Meiningen!
The anticipation in Meiningen is increasing because from July 28th to August 2nd, 2025, the parking lot at the Meiningen Adult Education Center will be transformed into the colorful children's town “Tiberanda”. Here, 130 children from the Schmalkalden-Meiningen district can try out exciting careers and immerse themselves in a world that belongs entirely to the little ones. Last year, almost 200 applications were received for the coveted participation, and this year the organizers are once again full of optimism for a colorful week full of adventure and creativity.
But what exactly can the participating children expect? In Tiberanda you have the opportunity to discover a total of 16 different professions. These include artists and actors who are very popular with little ones. Craft projects, such as building the “Tiberanda racing car,” will stimulate children’s creative potential and each child will also be able to elect a city council member. These city councils in turn elect two mayors. In this way, participation in decision-making is encouraged at an early stage!
A program full of possibilities
From Tuesday to Friday there are regular city tours at 10 and 11 a.m., which give boys and girls an overview of the various activities and professions. In addition, safety measures are very important: firefighters and paramedics are always available to ensure safety and provide first aid if necessary. Finally, on Saturday, August 2nd, there will be a public children's city festival where participants can present their projects and results to the public. A great end to a week full of learning effects and community interaction.
The children's town Tiberanda is not only a highlight in Meiningen, but also follows the tradition of similar projects in Germany. There are numerous children's cities across Germany that offer children the opportunity to actively participate and experience their surroundings for themselves. According to Geo.de, other cities such as Berlin with FEZitty or Leipzig with the “city within the city” are also part of this concept, which has inspired and encouraged children for years.
Registrations for Tiberanda have been possible since the end of April. It's worth being quick - places are in demand! Children aged 7 to 13 can look forward to an unforgettable week that not only promises a lot of fun, but also offers a good hand for personal development and a sense of community.
So if you want to combine the end of your holiday with an exciting and educational experience three weeks after the big holidays, you should definitely keep Tiberanda in mind. You can also find more information on the website insuedthueringen.de and rhoenkanal.de.
