Knirpsenburg in Sonneberg: Kindergarten courtyard brought to life with raised beds!
In Sonneberg, things are not only blooming in the truest sense of the word, but also creatively. The Knirpsenburg kindergarten has begun an exciting project that will transform the outdoor area into a more lively and inviting environment. InSuedThuringia reports that old wooden pallets, which have been carefully sanded and painted with bright colors, now serve as decorative elements in the entrance area. This loving upgrade is not only intended to please the eye, but also to arouse the curiosity of little explorers.
A central part of the project is the construction of raised beds. This is done in cooperation with the workshop, education and media (wbm). Here the children not only learn how to grow plants, but they also learn how important experiencing nature is for their personal and social development.
From idea to reality
Raised beds are more than just a pretty sight; they are an important tool for sustainability. Loud Now sustainable Building and maintaining such beds offers many advantages. Children learn the life cycle of plants, the importance of soil health and the role of pollinators. They develop an awareness of healthy eating habits when they grow their own fruit and vegetables and thus pamper their taste buds.
Another advantage of raised beds is their accessibility. The optimal height makes gardening easier for the little ones and promotes a sense of community. In addition, maintaining the garden is made much easier through better management of soil quality and reduced weed growth. This not only makes the garden more accessible for the children, but also more aesthetically pleasing.
Learn sustainability through play
Sustainability is anchored in many of the kindergarten’s projects. In addition to the raised bed project, there are numerous other activities that teach children how to use resources consciously. BFNB presents two interesting projects: “World Tour of the Senses”, which immerses children in different cultures, and “Nature and Art”, which combines creativity with natural materials.
With such projects, children not only gain the necessary knowledge about sustainability, but they also learn how to deal with waste and appreciate the diversity of nature. This all happens in a playful and fun way, so that the little ones not only do something for the environment, but also develop valuable social skills.
The Knirpsenburg shows how important it is to sensitize children to environmentally friendly values. Every raised bed and every painted palette is a step in the right direction – towards a greener future!
