New chairman Roger Müller fights for a MINT future in Steinheid!
There is currently a lot of excitement at the elementary school in Steinheid. Roger Müller was recently elected as the new chairman of the support association. A clear step in the right direction, as the election took place unanimously during a general meeting. This shows that everyone involved is behind him and wants to focus on improving learning conditions. The support association has a lot planned: from financial support for various projects to learning materials and renovation of the outdoor facilities - there is a lot of investment here. In southern Thuringia reports that the club was also actively involved in purchasing a digital mixing console for music lessons.
The Steinheid primary school, known as a European and environmental school, relies on innovative approaches to make learning interesting for the students. The numerous activities include not only support for environmental and cultural projects, but also programs such as “Erasmus plus” and “Class 2000”. These initiatives are very well received, particularly in STEM education, which is also a key focus of the school. Müller wants the elementary school to become a certified STEM-friendly educational institution, which represents an exciting prospect for the students.
Focus on STEM education
The children's early interest in MINT subjects cannot be overlooked. Unfortunately, however, it is often seen that many students, especially girls, do not pursue STEM training or studies towards the end of their school years. That has to change! Rhineland-Palatinate has already identified numerous approaches to strengthening this interest. The MINT round table has developed fields of action and support measures to better prepare students for the future.
With a clear plan, the support association also wants to continue to support the school company “Schulkiosk”, which offers children practical experience in dealing with money and organization. In his inaugural speech, Müller emphasized that he would like to pay particular attention to modern technology and the development of working groups such as the Computer AG and the 3D Printing AG. But such development costs money, and the association relies on donations to be able to realize these projects. Anyone who is not only interested in the school but also wants to make a contribution is warmly invited to take up new memberships or donate.
An urgent appeal
An enlightened concern of the new chairman is the condition of the elementary school itself, particularly the facade, which contains old asbestos panels. Müller appealed to political decision-makers to ensure a modern learning environment here and to push ahead with necessary renovation work. The support association sees the beautification and modernization of the buildings as a decisive step towards increasing the quality of learning.
Thanks at this point go to Peter Wichmann, who managed the club for many years. Under his leadership, important foundations were laid that now make it possible to look into the future. A strong network that promotes new ideas is the key to the successful further development of the Steinheid elementary school. Those interested in getting involved can find all relevant information and the support association's account details on the school's homepage. The account is held at Volksbank Gera-Jena-Rudolstadt: IBAN DE 49 8309 4454 0024 5591 06.
There will certainly be a lot of movement in this important educational institution in the coming weeks. It remains exciting! And one thing is clear: There is something going on in Steinheid.
