The Sonneberg City Library has come up with something very special for the summer holidays. A colorful holiday program for children opens with an afternoon of reading aloud on Thursday, July 10th. This afternoon takes place from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the inner courtyard of the town hall and is accompanied by, among other things, a drive-in cinema and a bobby car course. Another highlight in the program is the celebration of Pippi Longstocking's 80th birthday on Monday, July 14th, also from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Pippi, who was born for the first time on September 1, 1945, has since thrilled millions of children worldwide. The celebration includes a picture book cinema, a Pippi Longstocking quiz, creative crafts and many other fun activities. The little guests can also look forward to Swedish cinnamon rolls and cranberry juice. There is one here too Pre-registration required, but entry is free.
Adventures with Pippi
Pippi Longstocking, whose full name is Pippilotta Viktualia Rollgardina Pfefferminz Ephraim's Daughter Longstocking, is the strongest girl in the world with protruding red pigtails and freckles on her face. The characters and stories surrounding Pippi have been inspiring generations of children for 80 years and were created by the Swedish author Astrid Lindgren. The city library will also present a media exhibition with books and films about Pippi and other characters on this day.
In between, the children can look forward to an origami workshop on Thursday, July 24th, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Here the little artists learn to fold various objects out of paper, but this also requires one Register in advance. This workshop is intended for children aged 6 and over and promises lots of fun and creative development.

The piece is recommended for children aged 5 to 11 and lasts approximately 100 minutes.
