What's happening on the streets in Germany? On July 6, 2025, various police reports from several cities provide information about a series of incidents that give us food for thought. For example, in Nieheim A 72-year-old e-bike rider was slightly injured after turning on a restricted area. What a risky decision! This shows that even experienced road users do not always travel safely.
In Hofheim Things also went haywire: there was a theft from a hotel room and several reported traffic accidents. A particularly strange case: an e-scooter driver fell while intoxicated. Well, drinking and riding an e-scooter isn't exactly a good combination!
The problem of e-scooters
The issue with e-scooters concerns us all. According to the latest figures from the Berlin police, 74 accidents were registered in the capital in the first three months after the introduction of e-scooters alone, of which 16 people were seriously injured. Particularly explosive: 65 of these accidents were caused by the scooter drivers themselves, mainly due to carelessness or even drunkenness. Here, e-scooter users should definitely make more effort to be safe on the road the world reported.
In 2023, there was a 14.1% increase in e-scooter accidents nationwide to a total of 9,425, with 22 fatalities. The statistics show that 83% of those injured were actively riding the e-scooter. The Berlin police have already punished 223 administrative offenses committed by e-scooter users, including riding on footpaths and using them by multiple people. For example, anyone under 21 is not allowed to consume alcohol at all, which is certainly advisable to protect our young people.
In several cities, including Sassy and Haselünne, the repeated incidents show that it can be expensive if you don't pay attention to the rules. Traffic accidents, drug violations and the recurring e-scooter accidents keep the police on their toes and give us all one more reason to take road safety seriously.
