The film Spirit of Homeland: Albrechts celebrates his eventful history!
On November 13, 2025, the film “Spirit of Homeland. Albrechts – a village through the ages” will be shown in several cinemas. Produced by René Ehrhardt and Jonny Zimmermann and directed by Feel! Productions, the documentary deals with the rich historical heritage and current challenges of the small village of Albrechts. The reason for this moving film journey is the local anniversary of Albrechts and the city anniversary of Suhl. René Ehrhardt, who comes from Albrechts, has dedicated himself intensively to creating this work over the last four years in order to capture the history of his homeland.
But what exactly makes this film so special? “Spirit of Home” not only becomes a filmic homage to Albrecht, but also symbolizes the diverse stories and fates that can be found in many villages in southern Thuringia and beyond. Albrechts, first mentioned in a document in 1111, has gone through numerous changes over the centuries. The film impressively conveys how important cohesion and community commitment are for the future of a village.
A film with a message
The heart of the film is its message: people should be encouraged to stand up for their history, their homeland and the local community. The filmmakers have made it their mission to bring Albrecht's character and identity to the fore and show how these values are important in an ever-changing world. By delving into the past and understanding the challenges that villages face today, the film aims to raise awareness of one's homeland.
A particular focus is on the challenges that Albrechts has to overcome today. The face and voice of the film are people from the community who share their stories and bring the essence of village life to life. “Spirit of Homeland” is more than just a documentary; it is a call to get together and actively advocate for the well-being of those around you.
The path to completion
Making the film was a lengthy process that required a lot of passion. The filmmakers worked on the project for four years to capture the diverse facets of Albrechts. Not only were old recordings used, but numerous interviews were also carried out with villagers. The result is an impressive portrait of a village that is representative of many other villages in Germany.
When “Spirit of Home” is shown in cinemas from today, viewers can look forward to a journey through time that not only honors the past, but also takes a positive look into the future. Here it becomes very clear: History comes to life in Albrechts, and every individual has the potential to be part of this narrative.
