Dresdner SC suffers a painful opening defeat against Stuttgart!

On October 29, 2025, the top game of the 1st Women's Volleyball Bundesliga between Dresdner SC and MTV Stuttgart was a real highlight that ended in an unexpected defeat for the hosts. The DSC had to admit defeat in front of their own audience with 0:3 (15:25, 18:25, 21:25). This is the first defeat of the current season for the cup winner and Supercup winner, who this time was unable to prevail in the hall as usual.

The Stuttgart women performed strongly in this game and impressed with their excellent preparation. The serves, the block and the field defense were solid and left the Dresden women hardly any room to breathe. While they clearly lost out in the first and second sets, there was a slight improvement in the third set before MTV Stuttgart ultimately won the match confidently. After just 67 minutes of play, the dream of a first home win of the season was shattered.

Next challenge awaits

The next game for the DSC is scheduled for Saturday, October 31st. Then it's time to face SSC Palmberg Schwerin, where the players will do everything they can to erase the scars of the defeat against Stuttgart. There are a total of twelve teams active in the league this season, including three promoted teams: Borken, Flacht and Hamburg. The main round takes place in the “everyone against everyone” mode with home and away games and offers the best eight teams the opportunity to qualify for the playoffs.

The scoring is clearly regulated: a 3:0 or 3:1 win brings 3 points, while a 3:2 win brings 2 points. The losing teams receive a maximum of 1 point depending on the set result. This rule ensures that every point counts and tensions arise in the table that can last until the last match day. What is particularly noteworthy is that there is no sporting relegation this season, which offers the clubs additional scope and freedom to develop.

VfB Suhl on the road to success

While the DSC had to cope with the setback, VfB Suhl celebrated another triumph. In the duel against promoted team TSV Flacht, they impressed with a clear 3-0 win (25:12, 18:25, 19:25). Roosa Laakkonen was named best player, which underlines VfB's run. The team is showing strong this season and will certainly be a serious opponent for all opponents.

With this constellation and the upcoming duels, the 1st Women's Volleyball Bundesliga remains exciting. The DSC now has to collect itself quickly and take the next steps in the league successfully. If you look at the current table, there are still many opportunities open to return to the top and live up to your role as favorite.
