New shine for Da Capo: Zella-Mehlis' cultural highlight celebrates its anniversary!
The music association Da Capo Zella-Mehlis is not only celebrating its solid foundations this year, but is also preparing for a dazzling anniversary year. The club has been a fixture in the region for 24 years and has created a home at Rodebachstrasse 77a. The first premises were rented in 2008 in order to establish a space for our own events and the musical promotion of young people. What began as a template during the first move has now blossomed into a cultural center. The club has carried out extensive renovations to make the rooms attractive for smaller events. Particularly noteworthy is the support from a European funding project that helped young people from difficult backgrounds find career prospects. Thanks to this initiative, many creative ideas were implemented that make up the charm of the house today.
The members are particularly proud of the loving care the building has taken over the years, which now shines in new splendour. The craftsmanship of the club members has contributed to the facade of the house becoming a true gem. Every year there are new, regular renovations and investments so that the old, venerable walls remain able to meet the challenges of time. The result of these efforts not only makes members rave, but also captivates visitors.
A look at the events
The anticipation for the anniversary year 2026 is palpable. Great musicians have already been announced in advance for various events. The events calendar promises a variety of festivals and cultural enjoyment. The band “Seldom Sober”, among others, will perform authentic Irish folk music. Their roots are from Zella-Mehlis, where the band performed for the first time in 2003. With over 800 concerts in countries such as Denmark, Belgium and Austria, they have also made a name for themselves internationally. For their 20th band anniversary, they plan to delight their audience in the hometown of singer Nico Schneider. The concert takes place as part of “Da Capo Session 14”. Advance ticket sales are already underway and tickets cost 20 euros in advance - fans can expect to pay 25 euros at the box office.
If you would like to find out more about the next events, you can take a look at the Zella-Mehlis Tourismus website. In addition to a number of concerts, there will also be traditional celebrations such as the Easter egg market or the Ruppertus market, which express the special conviviality in the city. Zella-Mehlis is not only known for its cultural events, but also for its sporting activities, with winter sports playing a particularly important role.
