A tragic incident occurred on Saturday afternoon, June 21, 2025, in Schmiedefeld am Rennsteig. At around 12:50 p.m., a six-year-old girl was running along the country road between Schmiedefeld and Oberhof and collided with a 53-year-old woman's motorcycle. The impact was severe and the child had to be flown by rescue helicopter to a hospital where he is fighting for his life. The motorcyclist was also injured in the accident.
As In Southern Thuringia reports, the motorcycle suffered significant material damage amounting to approx 2000 euros. Meanwhile, the country road had to be completely closed for around two hours in order to secure the accident site and rescue efforts.
