Summer vacation fun: Children look forward to reading freights in Zella-Mehlis!

As part of the summer vacation project "I am a bookworm", small book lovers can go on a journey of discovery. Six captivating books are waiting to be read and the first small bookworms have already selected their favorites. Lucy, a fourth grader of the Schillerschule, chose "Wonder and I", a book about a special horse friendship. But that's not all! From July 1st to 5th, the library offers a varied summer program for children that runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Here, interested young participants can let their creativity run free in three exciting workshops. This includes a creative workshop in which you are painted and tinkered, a handmade course in which the children learn to sew and crochet, as well as a media course that goes into the subjects of fake news and robots. For the little researchers among us, there is also a MINT workshop on insects, which takes place from 8 to July 10 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. This is offered in cooperation with the Schmalkalden student research center, and the registration must be made by July 4th. But that's not all: On July 17th at 10 a.m. there is the event "The Berg is calling!", With which the mountain rescue staff present their exciting work. Registration is not necessary for this.

On July 25th, "on the trail of the crime" heralds the investigative time. The certified detective Alexander Schrumpf from Wiesbaden will give the children exciting insights into the world of detectives - they learn how to secure traces and deciphered secret messages. The big Bibo summer festival

The big Bibo summer festival on July 31st from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the town hall forecourt. Large and old can look forward to many actions here: from an ice and waffle stand to face painting to a children's flea market. A bouncy castle, giant soap bubbles and outdoor games XXL are also on the program. The chill-out area, equipped with deck chairs and a small book corner, ensures a relaxed atmosphere, in which you can browse in peace. In the libraries, it is becoming increasingly important to arouse reading pleasure at a young age. The St. Martin Oestrich library has also expanded its offer for children. Here are new books from the rows of "Loewe Wow" and "Super readable", which are specially designed for different reading levels. The books come with age -appropriate stories, short sentences and great illustrations. The aim is to give the children fun reading and encourage them to browse them.
